A little more about us...
That's me of course. I'm pretty high-energy in the sense that I like to go, go, GO! My husband affectionately calls me "the slave-driver". I can be laid back, except for when it comes to getting something done... then I run around the house like a crazed banchee with the work-ethic of a mule and expect my handyman to do the same. "Tunnel vision syndrome," as I like to call it, is a definite weakness. I'm working on that.
A couple other random facts: I'm borderline OCD. I'm a clean freak. Seriously, if TLC decided to do a series (opposite of Hoarders) about people who can't say no to their urge to purge... I would be their top candidate. Two dogs have lessoned my clean-freakishness and two kids even more! I am a Jersey girl through and through... not to be confused with a Jersey shore girl (those people are really from New York, and frankly, I kind of wish they would go back to where they came from) or a Jerseylicious girl (those people reach a ten on the tacky meter). I tend to exaggerate and I have a knack for grossly underestimating the cost and time it takes complete a project. My husband will be happy to vouch for that one.
Learning to balance the most important things (God, family, etc.) with my over-ambition is a continual struggle. When it comes down to it (and the TVS finally fades), I am well aware that the ultimate work in progress is me.
There he is... my handyman. Isn't he handsome? Josh and I met in college. The first time I saw him, he was surrounded by light and I heard a heavenly choir singing (or at least that's how the moment plays back in my head). That dark hair and those blue eyes get me every time. He's my Prince Eric... you know, from the little mermaid? He bares a striking resemblance. Also, driving a sunken ship into a monstrous octopus in the middle of a raging hurricane is only the beginning of what he would do for me! If only I had long flowing locks of bright red hair and sung half of the words I say, then we would really be the perfect match.
Anyway, Josh has a lot more qualities than just good looks. Oh-ho-ho does he! He's really good with his hands. I mean, with his tools... Oh dear. What I'm trying to say is he is highly skilled in the art of fixing. Josh is a heavy equipment mechanic and a total manly man. He loves hunting, fishing, building things, chopping wood, and plaid flannel shirts. Underneath that Brawny man exterior is the most soft-tempered, laid back person I know. He always knows just how to tame my crazy. If there is anyone who can bring me back to reality and remind me of whats important and still have me singing his praises, it's my man. I think that's why I keep getting comments about how much marriage "agrees" with me. Which I think is a nice way of saying, "You are so much more likeable now that you're married." ... That's fair. |
Here's my sweet and crazy little girl. And yes, she was born with all of that hair... it's just longer now. People always stop me in public to ask that. Like her daddy, she is tenderhearted, funny, and super smart (we're talking genius child potential here). AND also very much like her mama: an independent, wild, hairy little thing who often zooms around the house so quickly that all you see is a blur as she passes. Ok, just like me, minus the hairy part. She actually looks just like Josh and I'm SO glad! Isn't she beautiful?

My handsome little fella'. I'm pretty sure God compensates for my horrendously ill pregnancies by giving me extraordinarily easy babies. This kid hardly ever cries! He's a chunky little ball of smiles and giggles. He's super serious about bath time and playtime... always trying to figure everything out, shy with those he doesn't recognize, and somewhat of a Mama's boy. (No complaints from Mama here!) He loves to scream and chat happily with whoever will listen and he's a big fan of making others laugh. He is all me in looks and all daddy in personality... easy, easy, easy going.
